CTO PortlandLabs, Core Team Leader concrete5

Professional

I'm a father, writer and occasional musician, in addition to being co-founder, CTO and core team leader of concrete5. Concrete5 is an open source CMS written in PHP. I like to write about it on this site, and on its own. We're headquartered in occasionally sunny Portland, OR – which is also where I'm from.

Since the late 90s, I have built hundreds upon hundreds of websites. In fact, I met Franz Maruna (founder and CEO of Portland Labs, the company behind Concrete5) in 1999, while working on a website in a contractor capacity. I much prefer writing, coordinating and shipping software. I feel proud, privileged and grateful to be a part of a Concrete5.

Personal

I went to the University of Oregon and graduated from their Honors College with a degree in English; at one point in my life I weight roughly 160 pounds more than I do today; I have loved and used Macs since well before it was hip to do so; in my spare time I like to make music.

Books

Although several great books have been written about concrete5, I have yet to personally contribute to any of them. With the release of Concrete5 version 7 in 2014, it's a great time to look at the state of our written documentation and take a stab at writing the definitive guide to Concrete5. As a former English major and one-time aspiring writer, I'd like to be a part of it. Got an opportunity? Get in touch.

Speaking

I've been fortunate enough to present about Concrete5 at OSCON, and man booths at multiple OSCONs and SXSW 2010. I'd love to speak at your PHP event. Let's get in touch.
